Every two months I will give you some hot tips on what to plant for your climate in Australia, what is in season to eat and our best products to help you love your outdoor lifestyle. Enjoy!

JANUARY - FEBRUARY 2023

For us in central west NSW it is HOT. Summer has finally arrived with a bang. 

Normally it's not the time to be out doing jobs in the garden but there is still plenty that can be grown and sown in the heat. If you are like me, I take advantage of the evenings to do my watering and garden jobs or take the time to appreciate the sunrise if you are an early bird. 

WHAT TO SOW - January/February

Cool Regions 

January - Beans, beetroot, broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, carrot, corn, kale, lettuce, silverbeet, spring onion, swede and turnips.

February - Beetroot, broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, carrot, cauliflower, kale, lettuce, silverbeet, spring onion, and turnips.

Warm Regions

January - Basil, beans, beetroot, brussels sprouts, cabbage, carrot, corn, kale, lettuce, silverbeet, spring onion, swede and turnips.

February - Basil, beans, beetroot, brussel sprouts, cabbage, carrot, corn, kale, lettuce, silverbeet,  and spring onion

Hot Regions

January - Basil, Capsicum, chili, corn, cucumber, eggplant, rockmelon, rosella and watermelon.

February - Basil, broccoli, cabbage, carrot, cauliflower, corn, cucumber, kale, swede and turnip.

Subtropical Regions

January - Basil, Capsicum, chili, corn, cucumber, eggplant, leek, pumpkin, radish,  rockmelon, rosella, squash, watermelon and zucchini.

February - Amaranth, basil, capsicum, corn, chili, cucumber, eggplant, leek, okra, pumpkin, radish, rosella, squash and zucchini.

Tropical Regions

January - Basil, corn and rosella.

February - Basil and corn. 

WHAT TO EAT - January/February

Fruit

Bananas, blackberries, blueberries, cherries, grapes, all melons, nectarines, oranges (Valencia), peaches, plums, raspberries and strawberries.

Vegetables

Asparagus, beans, bean sprouts, beetroot, broccoli, cabbage, capsicum, carrots, cauliflower, cabbage, chilies, celery, cucumbers, eggplant. leeks, lettuce, mushrooms, pumpkin, rhubarb, snow peas, spinach, spring onions, sweet corn, tomatoes, turnips and zucchini.
